ADVISORY!  Most of the barns in the San Juan islands are privately owned.  The goal of this website is to provide information about these historic barns while respecting barn owners’ private property.  The barns on this map are those that can be viewed from public right-of-ways.  Please respect those barns that are on private property and do not trespass!

  1. Thank you for the wonderful information! I’m Glenn Rodenberger’s granddaughter. Both sides of my family lived on Orcas Island. My Father was George Rodenberger and my Mother Grace was the oldest daughter of Harold & Hattie McNallie. Do you have any information on the McNallie property? I think it belongs to Charlie Arnt’s family now.

    • Hi Retha
I’m so sorry that I have been tardy in replying to you! I must admit that I’m still ‘getting the hang’ of Word Press blogging!
I’m so glad that you enjoyed the piece–that is great praise coming from the granddaughter of Glenn Rodenberger! Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about the other branch of your family, the McNallies or their property.
Again, many thanks for your correspondence! Maybe we’ll meet on Orcas some time?
      Boyd
