The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation (The Trust) is a statewide, tax exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1976 to safeguard Washington’s historic places through advocacy, education, collaboration, and stewardship.  The Trust is the most respected non-profit historic preservation organization in the state, and works closely with the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP).  When the Washington State Legislature created the Heritage Barn Initiative in 2007, the Trust was designated as the entity to administer the matching grant portion of the program.  The Trust has maintained this role, providing project administration duties on behalf of DAHP for 66 barn rehabilitation projects statewide to date (three of which are in San Juan County).
